Free time activities while doing an internship in Europe

Posted by | March 12, 2012 | Barcelona

Whether you do your internship in your home country or abroad, the most important part of it is just working and trying to learn as much new as possible. However, when you are doing your internship abroad, you should also do cool stuff in your free time as well! Such things as getting to know the culture of your “new hometown”, getting to know some new people and also introducing yourself for new activities are all important parts of internship abroad. Just try to remember that not everything is about the placement and how you manage there.

So, what would be a thing that you could do in your free time regardless where in Europe your placement is? Well, one such thing could be watching some sports! When it comes to Europe, I would say especially watching some football (a.k.a. soccer)!  Football is the main sports in almost every European country: Germany, Sweden, Italy, the Netherlands, France, Spain, the UK, just name it! Also, every one of these countries has their own professional league with world class players! So, if you get yourself a placement somewhere in Europe, going to see a football match might be a great way to experience the local culture. Just remember to support your “home team”! ;)

Sometimes the tickets might be really expensive, but usually you should be able to get the tickets with quite modest prize. At least, if it is a regular season game and you buy the tickets straight from the stadium, the prize should be reasonable. Then few words about the game and culture… Everywhere you go in Europe, people are very enthusiastic about the game! Myself, I have the privilege to have my placement in a city that boasts with two first division teams of their country and so I went to see a game including world class stars like Mesut Özil and Cristiano Ronaldo! I can tell you it was totally worth of every euro I paid! The game was intense, players were good, home team fans were really hardcore throughout the game and the atmosphere at the game is something impossible to subscribe… You just have to go feel it yourself!

Baby get shaky after school
Oh oh there you oh oh there you
Baby go crazy, break the rules
Oh oh there you oh oh there you go
Go Go Go Go
oh oh there you go
